He is a dedicated father of three and currently resides in Rotorua, Bay of Plenty.
Growing up Munz enjoyed eeling, bull rush and shearing sheep with the old man. An addicted sportsman saw him represent teams in Hawke Bay, Manawatu and Otago in various sports, including rugby, rugby league, touch and swimming.
“My highest personal achievements are my four children. I am a proud father of two boys and two girls, they give me the drive and motivation I need to push through when the going gets tough.
I have always had a fascination with the human body and how it performs hence the study in Anatomy. I’ve always been active and passionate about all kinds of sport so its no wonder that I pursued the path of sport, the body and performance. I was introduced to CrossFit (CF) by a friend in the S.A.S in 2010 and was hooked on the CF concept immediately. This is where my journey into CF began.
I obtained my CF certificates (Jan, 2013) which allowed me to launch Rotorua’s first CF affiliate in June 2013. Today we are proud to be the premier CrossFit facility in Rotorua providing high quality training, consulting, support and community for people of all fitness levels”.
Nicole Pakau (“Nic”)
CrossFit Lvl 1 Trainer
Diploma in Applied Sport and Exercise Leadership Skills (Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology)
Diploma in Culinary Arts (Waiariki Institute of Technology)
Born in Taumarunui, King Country, NZ and raised as a tough little country girl between Tongariro National Park and Rotorua. Nic grew up playing competitive squash, mountain biking through the trails in Waipa and enjoying a lot of indoor rock climbing. She grew up around these sports mainly for fun but never had a serious interest in sport or health until she stumbled upon the CrossFit Rotorua Facebook page back in 2014. There she was inspired to try something new and get out of her comfort zone. Being a chef and working in the hospitality industry she struggled to find a workout regime that worked for her and kept her interested. Nic originally only wanted to try CrossFit to lose some of her ‘wobbly bits’ here and there but little did she know she had ignited a new spark for the sport in that first session.
“My passion for CrossFit, healthy living and being part of an amazing community grew each week as a member of CrossFit Rotorua. I wanted to excel in a sport where women were admired and celebrated for lifting heavy weights and weren’t treated like fragile and delicate little beings. Here we are equal. Four years later I’m proud to call myself a trainer at the box that started this journey for me and most importantly proud to call the members and trainers of this box my family and CrossFit Rotorua my home. As an athlete I love being strong, agile, flexible, fit and powerful. Some day I dream to be a well known name in the New Zealand community. As a trainer I take pride in seeing my members excel and I enjoy being a part of their journey. Seeing the sweat, blood and tears from people working towards their dreams and goals is rewarding on a daily basis. CrossFit to me isn’t just a workout regime, it’s a lifestyle, community and passion and CrossFit Rotorua is the embodiment of that”.
Ashleigh Grant (“Ash”)

Certificate in Fitness Level 4 (BOP Polytechnic)
Certificate in Public Health (Massey University)
Bachelor of Management Studies (University of Waikato)

Loves: Kapa Haka, Travelling, and time with whānau
Ash is born and raised in Rotorua among Whānau, Kapa Haka and concerts. She started CrossFit in 2012 when she was introduced to it by my partner and loved the challenge it presented and the endless list of new skills the was to learn.
The following year in 2013, she completed the Cert4Fitness at BOP Polytechnic focusing on all that Fitness Instruction encompasses, which then cemented her desire to eventually become a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer. Since then she always strives to keep adding to her knowledge base and aims to upskill herself every year.
“I am privileged to be a part of the coaching team here at CrossFit Rotorua, and enjoy seeing the members push each other and celebrate smashing goals together. You get out what you put in to your training and the only thing that matters is it’s You vs You”
Senila Savage (“Sus”)
Level 1 and Level 2 Ankorr and ZUU certified
Bachelor of Sport & Recreation, Diploma in Sport & Recreation (AUT, NZ)
Certificate IV Personal Training (Australian Institute of Fitness, Perth, AUS)
Certificate III Fitness Instructor
Certificate IV Massage Therapy
Sus lived away for several years and has recently returned to Rotorua with her husband and two boys. She loves being back home and even though she already knows all the best spots in Rotorua, has quickly learned that just when you think you’ve done it all, there is always more to discover. Sus is very passionate about her family and secondly a close tie between Netball and FOOD! She enjoys helping others, particularly through physical activity. She loves watching movies with the kids and scary ones with Mr Savage.
“I always wanted to try ZUU and ANKORR ever since seeing it on ESPN’s “Search For Hurt”. Mr Savage has been hassling me to try CrossFit, but I was never interested – until I came home to Rotorua and saw I could try both the ZUU and CF at the same place (CrossFit Rotorua).
I love ZUU & ANKORR because of its culture firstly – it’s encouraging, intense and self-challenging all at the same time. Secondly, I love that it’s all bodyweight, so needs no equipment and no EGOS! I can’t run for fitness anymore due to pain caused by osteoarthritis in my knee, so it’s always a struggle to improve and maintain my game fitness. I found that the ZUU training works for both my energy system requirements and strength whilst causing no pain to my affected knee.
Being a Pacific Islander, I understand how hard it is to step out of your comfort zone to give things a go. The fear of failure tends to take over any risk analysis as a non-negotiable. But this isn’t something only felt by Pacific Islanders, it’s a typical feeling for a lot of people, especially trying to get involved in fitness classes. So, for me it’s about changing perceptions of what your typical gym/ box is about. It’s about being that welcoming and smiling face that will encourage and challenge you to get to your goals, whatever they may be. It’s being the trainer that cares about the members and treats them with respect and gives the time and attention needed. It’s about going above and beyond and leading by example to show that making mistakes are opportunities to learn how to be better than what you are today”.
Change Perceptions = Change Lives (trade mark that!)
